In the world of outfitters and guides that offer deer hunting, there are so many to choose from…..especially here in Kansas. I’ve hunted and worked with some of the best ever in the pursuit of trophy deer, and I can tell you that Misty Morning Outfitters and Matt are the real deal. The amount of dedication, work, and money MMO puts into not only harvesting, but growing and managing trophy deer is 2nd to none. My wife and I have hunted consecutive years with MMO since the fall of 2014, including hunting turkeys in the spring. We have been nothing but satisfied with every trip. We have seen the numbers and quality of the deer herd (including trophy bucks) increase from year to year and we anticipate that things are only going to continue getting better. During the youth season of 2017, we brought our two sons with hopes that they would be successful in harvesting a trophy buck. Both took outstanding trophies, including our youngest son’s 1st deer. In early November of 2017, Matt called and told me that one of his trail cams had captured a few pictures of a giant non-typical buck that he hadn’t seen since January. My wife and I were able to adjust our schedules and make the trip over to hunt the buck. Due to very little knowledge about the buck and the fact that the photos from the trail camera were all at night, we knew the odds were stacked against us. But this is Kansas in November and anything can happen!! I believe in the philosophy that if you want to shoot a giant, you’ve got to hunt where a giant lives. So I made my mind up that I was going to hunt the giant and I was going to tag him or I was going to go home with my tag still in my pocket. On the morning of November 9th the buck appeared in the food plot and with the release of an arrow, the short story of buck known at MMO as “Megatron” came to an end. I am still in awe of this animal and am so thankful that things worked out the way they did. Everyone wants to congratulate the hunter who signs the tag that goes on a once in a lifetime trophy like this, but all I did was put the arrow where it needed to go. Matt and the crew at MMO  deserve the real congratulations. Without their efforts, I would have never had the opportunity to let that arrow fly!!  I promise you that my family and I will continue to hunt with Matt and the Misty Morning crew, and I highly recommend them to anyone looking for the chance at a giant Kansas whitetail !!!
